13 years ago I left London , where I had been working in various banks since I was 16. I got into my car with all my possessions and headed west. Cornwall was my destination and I had dreams of living and working by the sea for the rest of my life. Instead I stopped off at Exeter services on the M5 and never got to Cornwall. I started working for Reuters, the news agency, and this is where my love of photography began. After a few years with them I set up my own wedding photography business and since that day Ive been lucky to photograph all over the world and my sole income is now from photographing people.
People are often surprised when they learn I was born and raised in South Africa. I grew up surrounded by art in one form or another; my mother was always busy making things from cloth or paper, and my father was a keen photographer who developed his own photos during his teen years. So I began my adventure with photography at an early age, playing with one of those old instamatic cameras.I moved to Europe when I was 19, living first in London, then moving to Paris two years later. My journals were filled with photos capturing the adventure, and it was here that I began to pursue a more serious interest in photography. My early work concentrated more on artistic portraits and self-portraits, and I experimented with landscapes and fine art details. My own unique style began to take shape, and it was when I finally settled in Vienna, that the world of wedding photography opened up to me. I finally discovered a passion very close to my heart.
